This page describes policies for conference registration and other related terms for participants and speakers.

Registration

important dates

the online conference registration will be open until Monday, May 31, 2010. Registration for the conference after May 31 will take place at the conference site. Dates and times will be announced as more information becomes available.

earlybird

The earlybird deadline for taking advantage of conference discounts is April 20, 2010. Register early to avoid technical or other concerns. Exceptions wil not be made. In 2010, earlybird discounts are only available to paid SDS members.

membership discounts

As a member of Society for Disability Studies, special registration pricing is made available to you. To take advantage of this pricing, you must be a fully-paid current member of SDS at the time you register. The registration system will cross-check with our membership database to confirm your status prior to allowing you to register for the conference as a member. Use the links provided to join SDS as a new menber or renew your membership with SDS to enjoy the significant conference discounts.

cancellation

SDS uses your conference registration to set up accommodations, plan for food, and pay for other conference costs. As a result, SDS is unable to refund the cost of your registration should you need to cancel. However SDS will be pleaased to write a letter of donation to allow you to claim the registration cost as a donation.

Should you choose to use the conference registration process to reserve a room at the Temple University dorm, you will be required to submit your payment in advance. should you need to cancel your reservation, your request will be granted if done so prior to May 1, 2010. You will be assessed a processing and administrative fee of $25 for the refund.

speakers

All speakers at presenters at the 2009 SDS conference must be registered conference participants. No discounts are available to speakers. However SDS asks presenters to also join the organization as members in order to take advantage of the discounts available as members.

All speakers must be fully registered and their payment must be received by May 10, 2010. Speakers who have not registered by this date will be dropped from the conference program.

rooms at the hotel

Discounted room rates are made available at the Temple dorms and other Philadelphia facilities. Speakers, presenters, and participants are responsible for making rooming arrangements wit the dorm or hotels.

N.B.: The special conference rate for Temple dorm will only be available to SDS participants until May 1, 2010. Be sure to make your arrangements by that date.
