Committee work is at the heart of our organization, advancing advocacy work, our Principles, and our Mission. Communications Committee

Development Committee

Implements and manages fundraising efforts and outreach for support. Researches grant opportunities, sponsorships, and other organizations.

Membership Committee

Promotes new membership of individuals and organizations. Communicates with existing membership.

Nominations and Awards Committee

Solicits candidates for Board election. Solicits nominees for awards and shepherds processes. Recruits volunteers for committees.

Policy and Publications Committee

Develops scholarly publications and seeks to encourage the development of scholarly research of concern to people with disabilities. Serves as Board liaison to the editors of our journal Disability Studies Quarterly. Informs the Board of relevant public issues relevant to people with disabilities that may require action on behalf of the Society, and assists in drafting statements supporting actions that promote the interests of disability advocacy and policy.

Plans conferences, strands, online events, and other program activities. Coordinates with other organizations about their DS-related activities.
